If you want to sew a latkan on a suit on your own, then, follow these steps carefully.

1. Step 1 Understand your suit measurements. You need to understand this to determine how many latkans will probably be needed. Also, have a thorough grasp of the colour of your suit, and whether it has any specific patterns embroidered on it.

2. Step 2 Select the type of latkans you want on your suit. Latkans can range from simple, fringe-type ones to fancy beaded ones. Based on the suit measurements, you can also decide whether you want a few latkans attached or many.
   

   

   
   To be safe, buy a packet and keep it. When purchasing, also keep in mind that there are monochromatic latkans and colourful ones. Depending on your suit, you can purchase any design to style it the way you want.

3. Step 3 Start by marking where you want to sew the latkan on your suit. Lay down the suit on a flat surface and place the latkans where you imagine them to be. If you are satisfied with the latkan arrangement, then use tailor chalk to mark the spots.
   
   If you wish to be more precise, then use a measuring ruler or tape to measure the distance between each latkan on the suit.

4. Step 4 Check if your latkan has a tail or not. If it has, then insert a threaded needle at the collected end of the latkan and pull through. But, if your latkan does not have a tail, you can simply make a loop at the latkan end with a thread.

5. Step 5 Place the latkan at the marked spot on your suit. Pull the needle to pull up the latkan to the brink of the suit hemline, ensuring that the stitch marks will not be quite prominent. Ensure that you place the latkan trim at the backside of the suit fabric so that the edges and trim are in sync together.

6. Step 6 Pull the needle through the latkan and secure it to the suit nicely. But you must be careful of not pulling the needle too tightly, or else you might notice scrunches on your suit. Keep it tight enough to secure it on your suit.

7. Step 7 Make loops on your latkan with the needle and thread to your suit to ensure that it stays held properly.

8. Step 8 Once you are done, and feel that your latkan has been positioned nicely on your suit, you can go ahead and trim the thread tail.
   For the last time, push the threaded needle through the latkan and tie a knot. You might find a long thread tail hanging loose from the end of your latkan. You just need to cut this thread tail with a pair of scissors.
   

   

   
   Continue repeating these steps for all the latkans that you wish to attach to your suit. Ensure that no thread tail remains or else it will make your suit look haphazard.
