Daman plot

The movie opens with scenes set in 2015. A young man, Dr. Siddharth Mohanty has just received his MBBS degree from Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha.

On completion of his degree, he gets posted to a remote and tribal area in the Malkangiri district of the Indian state. This area was called Janbai Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC).

Dr. Mohanty had to go there even if he did not wish to. This mandatory posting was because of the rule set down by the government of Odisha.

According to this rule, students studying medicine in government-sponsored courses had no choice but to serve in remote rural or tribal places in Odisha for a minimum of 5 years. If this rule was not followed, then they would be bound by a 5 crore penalty.

Thus, Dr. Siddharth has no choice but to settle in Janbai PHC. It is during his posting that he sets out on a journey to help people who lived with no basic necessities closer to professional medical guidance and male them un-believe the societal dogma of superstitious beliefs.
